Scheduling A Test

How can I book an appointment for travel PCR testing?

Appointments for travel-PCR testing can be booked on our website at www.pcr.amc.clinic. If additional assistance is required prior to setting an appointment, our team can be reached by email (pmo@amc.clinic) or by phone (671-488-5361).

 Do you accept walk-ins?

Walk-ins are accepted based on availability, appointments will take priority and be expedited.

 What are your hours of operation?

Currently, AMC Plaza is open for testing Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM. If you require testing at a time outside of our normal hours of operation, please let us know via call or email, and we may be able to arrange testing at another American Medical Center location.

Travel Testing

Do I need to take a travel PCR test for entry into my intended destination?

Testing requirements vary for each country and are subject to frequent change. It is the responsibility of the traveler to understand the entry requirements of his/her destination. We recommend reaching out to your airline or to the appropriate consulate’s office to gather the most up-to-date information regarding travel guidelines.

How many days prior to travel should I take my PCR test?

The time limit for PCR test results to be considered valid for entry may differ depending on your country’s specific entry requirements. We recommend consulting your airline or the appropriate consulate for the most up-to-date advisement.

Generally, results are available approximately 24-to-48 hours after testing. For travelers who require same-day results, stat testing is also available at an additional charge.

I found out that I was recently in close-contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19– Can I get a PCR test at AMC plaza?

No. The PCR testing services available at AMC Plaza are reserved only for travel-related purposes. If you have been in close contact with someone who has recently tested positive, please follow recommended quarantine guidelines and consider visiting the Guam Department of Health and Human Services’ website for the most current information regarding Community Testing Outreaches. Can someone who is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 receive a PCR test at AMC Plaza?

No. The PCR testing services available at AMC Plaza are reserved only for travel-related purposes. For the safety of our guests and staff, symptomatic individuals should not enter the AMC Plaza clinic. Please proceed to a clinic that has been specifically designated for testing symptomatic patients. If you are experiencing any symptoms associated with COVID-19, please follow recommended guidelines and consider visiting the Guam Department of Health and Human Services’ website for the most current information regarding Community Testing Outreaches. Testing Process

What do I need to bring with me on the date of testing?

You will need to bring your passport and some form of payment with you to your appointment. If you do not have your passport on-hand, a driver’s license, valid state ID, or any government-issued ID will also suffice. Additionally, it may be helpful to have your travel itinerary available for reference.

What can I expect on the date of testing?

On the date of testing, you will first need to check in at our front desk. We will collect a copy of your passport/ID and give you some paperwork to fill out. Once you have checked in, you can make payment for your test while we prepare your test-kit. You will then be directed to our testing area, where a member of our team will perform a nasopharyngeal swab to collect a specimen for PCR-testing.

Is travel PCR testing covered by my insurance?

It is at the discretion of patients to determine their personal insurance coverage, but because many insurance plans do not offer coverage for travel-related PCR testing, you will need to pay out-of-pocket for testing at our clinic. If you intend to seek reimbursement from your insurance company retroactively, we do provide receipts for all transactions.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We currently accept both cash and card as forms of payment.

Results

How soon after testing will results be available?

Generally, results are available approximately 24-to-28 hours after testing. For travelers who require same-day results, stat testing is also available at an additional charge.

How will I get my results?

You can pick up a paper-copy of your test results at our clinic at any time between 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM, on the day after your test date. If you would also like a digital copy of your results, please inform our staff and we will email a digital results document to you. (Please note that same-day PCR test results will be provided via email, as results are released after our clinic closes for the day).

How will I receive my results on days when the clinic is closed?

If our clinic is closed on the day following your test date, you can expect your results to be delivered to you via email.

I am traveling to Japan- Will you also be able to provide the Health Certificate of Testing for COVID-19 that is required by Japan’s Ministry of Health?

For patients traveling to Japan, we will provide the appropriate Ministry of Health Certificate in addition to our standard-issue test results. Please note that it is the responsibility of individual patients to request this document at the time of testing.

What happens if I test positive for COVID-19?

If a patient receives a positive test result, clinical staff will directly contact the individual. A provider will assess the patient’s health and may order a confirmatory re-test, if deemed appropriate. Depending on the assessment, the provider may refer the patient to a hospital for further care or will coordinate with Guam Public Health to transfer the patient to a designated isolation facility.
